I respect him for the level of success he has achieved and his passion for the outdoors. Over the years, whenever I’ve reached out to Rick for advice, he has graciously coached me. Sharing the fundamentals of fishing with anglers who want to improve their skills is something I truly enjoy. My wife, Cindy, who married me in 1996! Renovating our home and spending time with family, friends and our dogs. On the national circuit, I fish the ESPN, FLW and IFA redfish tournaments and have two 1st place finishes.

I also guided one of my anglers to a 1st place finish in the Gene Doyle Charity tournament. I am a Life Member of CCA, and support my region by fishing and guiding in local inshore tournaments such as Flatmasters and Redsnook Charity, where I’ve won several big fish awards as a guide. In fact, sitting in my Skeeter SX230 Bay Boat going after trophy snook in the ‘glades at night using a spin and plug rod is my idea of heaven on water. The hunt and their strength still challenge me. Inshore fishing is my specialty, and the species I target are snook, tarpon, redfish, trout, permit, cobia and largemouth bass. I became a full-time charter boat captain in 1993, when I launched Ron Hueston Fishing. That’s why I LOVE the Everglades! It’s remote and nothing can be built there! The diversity of fresh and saltwater species and the fact that many of my best childhood memories are of fishing there make it my all-time favorite spot.

Powered by a reliable 315 HP Yanmar engine, the boat features a full range of marine electronics and safety equipment. Captain Ron fishes a 30’ True World sportfishing boat with a walkaround layout, perfect for 360-degree fishability. Other species you can catch include Fluke, Porgy, Black Seabass, and Bluefish. Captain Ron specializes in fishing for Striped Bass with live bait and diamond jigs, but he also runs shark and offshore cod trips. In addition, he's one of only a few people in the world to land two striped bass over 60 pounds. In the 1980's he landed over 60 tuna weighing up to 804 pounds fishing from his 22 foot Boston Whaler. During that time, he landed twenty-four striped bass over 50 pounds and pioneered the art of small boat fishing for giant bluefin tuna. Ron Onorato started commercial fishing off Montauk Point in 1973 as a rod and reel striped bass fisherman.
